BICROPHONIC RESEARCH INSTITUTE
VISUAL IDENTITY, WEB ART DIRECTION
The Bicrophonic Research Institute (BRI) is an association that makes music and audio landscapes to be triggered and played by you the cyclist. Not an app and free of the internet, it creates an outdoor listening experience for all, the antithesis of headphones. Through ten years of international projects, BRI has developed the sonic bike whose music changes depending on where and how fast the cyclist goes through a pair of bike-mounted speakers and bespoke soft- ware to GPS system, the cyclist becoming performer and passers by audience.
The features of the sonic bikes come down to the principle of sound circulation, it is the union of tangible hardware with ephemeral sound.
BRI expands the boundaries of cycling by bringing it to a new dimension. It turns mechanics into sound, tangible into intangible.
